Avani Lekhara writes history ; Double medal win at the Paralympics!

Indian athlete Avani Lekhara writes new history at Paralympics Nineteen-year-old Avani became the first Indian woman to win a double medal at the Paralympics, winning bronze in the 40m Rifle Three Position in the women’s shooting SH1 category. Earlier, Avani had won gold in the 10m air rifle in the SH1 category. It is also India’s 12th medal in Tokyo.

Earlier, two days after the medal drought at the Paralympics, India returned with a silver medal by Praveen Kumar in the men’s high jump T64 category. Praveen Kumar won silver in a thrilling event with a height of 2.07 meters.

Gibraltar’s Jonathan Broome Edwards won the gold with a height of 2.10 meters. Poland’s Masjid Lepiato won the bronze with a height of 2.04 meters. All three medalists in this category competed in the T64 category from the T44 category.
