Aryan Khan accused NCB of ‘ruining reputation’ after arrest, Shah Rukh Khan said they’d been painted as ‘criminals, monsters’
According to a new report, Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan asked NCB officials if he deserved to be labelled a “international drug trafficker” despite the fact that no illegal drugs were found on his person. In October of last year, Aryan was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in connection with an alleged drug bust onboard a cruise ship off the coast of Mumbai. He was held in jail for several weeks before being released on bail.
He was accused of everything from illegal drug possession to links to international drug gangs. The NCB, however, gave him a clean bill of health in May 2022, citing a lack of “sufficient evidence.”
According to India Today, NCB deputy director-general (operations) Sanjay Singh, who led the SIT investigating the case, recalled his conversations with Aryan. He’d promised Aryan that he’d talk to him ‘with an open mind.’
Aryan, he claims, asked him a few “soul-searching questions.” “Sir, you have painted me as an international drug trafficker, and you have accused me of financing drug trafficking — aren’t these charges absurd?” he asked. Despite the fact that no drugs were found on my person that day, I was arrested. Sir, you have disgraced me and tarnished my reputation. Was it really necessary for me to spend so many weeks in prison — did I deserve it?”
Aryan’s arrest was allegedly motivated by political motives, according to opposition parties and Shah Rukh fans. For his “shoddy investigation” of the case, former NCB zonal director Sameer Wankhede has been recommended for action by the government. Singh also claimed in the India Today report that he spoke with Shah Rukh Khan. “We’ve been painted as big criminals or monsters out to destroy society, and we find going to work every day difficult,” Shah Rukh said, according to Singh.
The actor has resumed work properly after spending several months under the radar. He’ll appear in three films next year: Pathaan, Jawan, and Dunki, all of which were announced in quick succession over the last few weeks. Suhana Khan will make her acting debut in the upcoming Netflix film The Archies, and Aryan is reportedly writing projects for streaming platforms.
