Art Camp Andorra by UNESCO: Shadab Khan Portrays the Finest Beauty of India Through Her Artwork
The award-winning Indian artist Shadab Khan got invited to represent her country in the UNESCO Art Camp Andorra along with the other 20 talented artists from the Middle East and Asia who were selected to attend UNESCO’s exclusive invite-only art event to paint their hopes and dreams for a peaceful and sustainable future.
For the first time in the Arab world, one of the biggest art events globally “Art Camp Andorra” organised by UNESCO, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member & Ruler of Ajman, hosted by Ajman University from 14-21 March 2022, with the collaboration of The National Commission for Education, Culture & Science and Ajman Tourism Development, with the guidance of Mr. Jean Michel Armengol Secretary-General, Andorran National Commission for UNESCO Art Camp is an international forum bringing together artists from around the world to create and showcase original and truly creative work and to strengthen the fundamental values of UNESCO which are the sustainability of peace as well as the promotion of artists.
Through the Art Camp project, artists from different cultures and nationalities were encouraged to present their respective countries and cultures in a peaceful dialogue in a cultural exchange program. Ms. Shadab Khan 41, a business graduate has participated in this high-profile art event where she showed her country’s strength “Unity in Diversity” through the medium of her 2 artwork which were painted during the camp.
Her painting captured the finest beauty of India in terms of a variety of religions, embellishments and monuments all under the tri-colored flag. She tries to convey the message that ‘Unity is Strength ‘. It’s all about being together no matter what the circumstances are. The strength of unity puts a great impact on the development of the nation. Unity is essential as it forms the central pillar of the country. Shadab Khan has been passionate about art since childhood.
Her artistic process began as a child during frequent excursions to the botanical gardens and nature conservatories. She is incredibly inspired by the beauty of life, as seen either through many perspectives be it a telescope or a microscope or in plain sight. Her art is characterized by vibrant colors, contrasting shapes, and bold compositions.
Her compositions are hypnotizing and give you a feeling of looking deep into the universe making you lost in the imaginary world. She feels fortunate enough to get an opportunity to work for many National and International brands such as Samsung, National Geography Abudhabi, Hermes, and Forever Rose London and be featured in many national and international magazines like Vogue Arabia, Harper Bazaar, Mojeh, She Magazine, Emboss Art Magazine, etc.
Her artwork is in many private residences and offices throughout the UAE and other parts of the world. Some of her art collectors are most prominent celebrities such as Nigerian Oil Tycoon Mr. Tony Cole, Iraqi Singer Shatha Hassoun, Life Coach Emarati Author Hala Kazim, Moroccan Fashion designer Selma BenOmar, founder of Forever Rose London Mr. Ebrahim She is also the recipient of the most prestigious cultural Golden Visa from the Government of UAE under the category of Arts & Culture.
Other professional artists who participated with her are from UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Andorra, Syria, Iraq, Egypt, Oman, Algeria, Tunisia, Lebanon, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Jordan, Morocco, and Syria. At the end of the camp, all the artworks are exhibited at Ajman University and will be sent to France for an exhibition and then will be in the permanent collection at UN headquarters.
Some of the earlier editions of the UNESCO Art Camp have been exhibited at the UN headquarters in Geneva, the Victoria Cultural Centre on the island of Gozo in Malta, and the UN headquarters in New York, among other prominent global locations.
