Apple Invests Rs 100 Crore to Expand Renewable Energy Capacity in India
Apple has announced an investment of Rs 100 crore to expand renewable energy infrastructure in India in partnership with renewable energy developer CleanMax. The initiative aims to build more than 150 MW of clean energy capacity across the country, enough to power over 1.5 lakh average Indian households annually. The move aligns with Apple’s global goal of achieving carbon neutrality across its operations and supply chain by 2030.
Apple’s Vice President of Environment and Supply Chain Innovation, Sarah Chandler, said the company sees environmental commitment as a key driver of innovation. Apple has already worked with CleanMax on rooftop solar projects that power its offices and retail stores in India entirely through renewable energy. The latest investment will further strengthen renewable energy adoption within Apple’s Indian supply chain.
The company is also expanding its environmental initiatives through collaborations with WWF-India and Saahas Zero Waste to improve recycling and waste management systems in regions such as Goa and Coimbatore. Additionally, Apple has partnered with Acumen to support six green startups focused on waste management, circular economy solutions, and regenerative agriculture.
