Apollo Hospitals Proposes Shobana Kamineni as Executive Chairperson for Upcoming Healthtech Spin-Off

India’s Apollo Hospitals Enterprise announced on Monday that it plans to appoint promoter director Shobana Kamineni as the executive chairperson of its upcoming medical equipment and digital health unit, Apollo Healthtech. The appointment is subject to vital shareholder approval. This move follows a strategic corporate reorganization detailed by the company last year, aimed at spinning off and separately listing its digital health, pharmacy, and healthcare equipment operations within an 18 to 21-month timeframe.

The newly formed Apollo Healthtech board will establish a governance structure where independent directors comprise at least 50% of the total seats. Additionally, both institutional investors and promoters will hold board nomination rights, contingent upon a proposed minimum shareholding threshold of 10%. The UK-based medical equipment manufacturing wing of the business currently supplies major institutions, including the National Health Service (NHS) and various care home networks, with specialized healthcare accessories such as pressure-relief mattresses, custom cushions, and ergonomic care chairs.

During its May earnings call, management indicated that the finalized demerger and subsequent public listing are expected to materialize by late fiscal year 2027. Following the completion of the regulatory and shareholder clearance processes, the company targets an ambitious annualized revenue of approximately 250 billion rupees at the time of its market debut.
