Anti-Drugs Agency Suspends Probe In-Charge, Intel Officer in Aryan Khan Case

Two officers investigating Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan’s drugs-on-cruise case have been suspended by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB). On October 3, 2021, Aryan Khan was apprehended during an NCB raid on a cruise ship off the coast of Mumbai.

After overnight raids on a cruiseliner operated by the Cordelia company berthed at the international cruise terminal at the Green Gate in Mumbai, the agency arrested Khan and seven others on October 3 last year. Following allegations of extortion and procedural lapses, the NCB headquarters transferred this case to the SIT in November last year, which was being investigated by the NCB Mumbai office under former zonal director Sameer Wankhede.

He and 19 others were charged with illegal drug possession, consumption, sale/purchase, conspiracy, and abetment under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. Only two of the accused are currently in judicial custody, while Aryan and 17 others were granted bail. The case resulted in the arrest of a total of 20 people. Wankhede had denied all of the allegations, claiming that he was being singled out because he was investigating high-profile narcotics cases.
