Anil Kant : The new state police chief

Anil Kant is the new police chief of the state. The decision to appoint Anil Kant as DGP was taken at a cabinet meeting on Wednesday.

Anil Kant, a native of Delhi, is a 1988 batch IPS officer. He was currently the Commissioner of Road Safety.

Anil Kant is the first Dalit to become the state police chief. Anil Kant, who has an excellent track record, also has the distinction of being the DGP directly from the ADGP chair.

Anil Kant, B Sandhya and Sudesh Kumar were shortlisted for the post of DGP by the UPSC. Out of these, the state government has now selected Anil Kant. Anil Kant will arrive at the police headquarters in the evening and will be replaced by Loknath Behra.
