Amul releases a quirky doodle featuring Will Smith and Chris Rock

Something unexpected happened at the 94th Academy Awards on March 28 (IST). Will Smith, one of the Oscar nominees for 2022, stormed the stage and smacked comedian Chris Rock, much to the surprise of the audience.

Chris had made a tasteless joke about Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, which did not sit well with the actor. The slapgate became the night’s biggest talking point. Memes abound on social media, and people are sharing their reactions to the shocking incident on stage. With its spoof of the slapgate, dairy brand Amul has also joined the list.

Amul posted an amusing doodle to their Instagram and Twitter accounts, featuring animated versions of Will Smith and Chris Rock. Smith slaps Chris at the award show, and Amul recreated the exact moment.

“CHRIS ROCKED BY SLAP!” Amul wrote. “SNACK. DON’T SMACK,” it added.

Chris Rock cracked a joke during the Oscars 2022, comparing Jada Pinkett Smith’s tightly cropped hair to Demi Moore’s appearance in the 1997 film GI Jane. Will Smith walked up to the stage after his remark and smacked Chris Rock without saying anything. Will Smith returned to his seat as Chris Rock gathered his thoughts. “Keep my wife’s name out of your f***g mouth,” a visibly enraged Will Smith thundered to Chris Rock moments later. On social media, Will Smith has publicly apologised to the comedian. He admitted that he regrets his actions, but that “a joke about Jada’s medical condition was too much for him to bear.”
