Aishwarya Rai turns heads at the Cannes premiere of Top Gun Maverick
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, a Bollywood actress, attended the Cannes Film Festival premiere of Tom Cruise’s Top Gun: Maverick on Wednesday. In a black and floral ensemble, Aishwarya Rai made her second appearance on the Cannes 2022 red carpet.
Aishwarya had run into her old friend and Hollywood star Eva Longoria earlier in the day. On her Instagram stories, Eva shared a video with Aishwarya Rai. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has attended the Cannes Film Festival on numerous occasions. This year, she is joined by her husband Abhishek Bachchan and daughter Aaradhya Bachchan at the event.
Apart from Aishwarya Rai, several other Indian celebrities are expected to attend this year’s film festival. India has been named the ‘country of honour’ for the 75th Cannes Film Festival. Deepika Padukone, Tamannaah Bhatia, Pooja Hegde, Urvashi Rautela, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Shekhar Kapur, and AR Rahman were among those who walked the red carpet on Day 1 of the festival.
The India Pavilion at the Cannes Film Market – ‘Marche du Film’ was inaugurated by I&B Minister Anurag Thakur. He rolled out the red carpet for foreign filmmakers who want to make movies in the country, offering up to Rs 2.5 crore in incentives for co-production and hiring local talent.
Deepika, who is a jury member at Cannes 2022, spoke at the India Pavilion on Wednesday. “I believe we have it as a nation,” she said. We have the talent and the ability; all we need now is that level of conviction. I truly believe that one day, India will no longer need to attend Cannes, and the festival will be held in India.”
