After Gujarat, the sale of meat has been banned in Dehu, Maharashtra

The sale of non-vegetarian food has been banned in Maharashtra’s Dehu municipality. The ban came into effect on Friday. The decision was taken by the newly appointed governing body of Dehu Municipality. The resolution, brought in February, was supported by all political parties.

Dehunagar Panchayat Chief Officer Prashant Jadhav told that the decision not to sell meat was taken in view of the sentiments of the locals and the devotees of Tukaram Maharaj Temple, the main temple in Maharashtra. The General Body Meeting held on February 25 passed a resolution unanimously banning meat.

Meat and fish were banned. The chief minister said shops selling meat and fish should be closed as soon as possible or the authorities would intervene. Earlier, the sale of meat, fish and eggs was banned in Gujarat’s cities of Rajkot and Vadodara.
