After filter coffee, Chennai artist wows netizens with Maggi painting

If you use social media, there’s a good chance you’ve seen a post that appears to be a simple photograph of a filter coffee but is actually a painting upon closer inspection. Now, the artist has returned and has managed to create a stir once more, this time with an image of a Maggi packet. Even the brand was blown away by the drawing’s perfection.

Varuna Shreethar of Chennai, Tamil Nadu, stunned the internet with her enthralling digital art, which was discovered to be painted rather than shot on camera. The 21-year-old artist shared an old painting of India’s favourite instant noodles on Twitter on Saturday.

The signature yellow packaging of the Nestle product with a bowl of the 2-minute noodle looked exactly like the packs we see in stores or at home, just like her previous post.

As the post gained traction, Maggi India became aware of it and joined the conversation. “This picture has definitely captured our ‘Dil,'” the food company wrote, adding, “keep showing the #maggilove.”

“Maggi is my most favourite food since I was a little kid, living for this full circle moment [sic],” the young artist responded, moved by the company’s comment.

In an earlier interview with indianexpress.com, she explained that her art combines “hyperrealism with impressionism,” and that “that’s why I leave the texture so raw in the paintings.”

“I’m not trying to imitate a photograph.” That’s why cameras exist; I wanted to make a painting that looked like something you adore,” she added.
