Accident Victim’s Family Gets Over ₹ 1 Crore In Compensation: Report

The family of a 36-year-old lady who died in an accident two years ago has received compensation from the Motor Accident Claim Tribunal (MACT) in Kozhikode totaling over 1 crore. On December 31, 2019, V V Babitha, a teacher at a school in Kozhikode, perished in a car accident.
Judge K. Ramakrishnan of the MACT ruled that a compensation of Rs. 1.02 crore must be paid. The total included 80,84,900 in compensation and 21,15,100 in interest at a rate of 9%. According to several accounts, the tribunal mandated that the victim’s mother, two daughters, and husband each receive an equal share of the funds.
