Reliance Industries Shares Surge 11.6% as Oil and Jio Businesses Boost Earnings
Shares of Reliance Industries surged 11.6% on Monday, recording their strongest single-day performance in more than six years. The rally followed better-than-expected quarterly results, with the company reporting a 40.6% increase in net profit to ₹25,548 crore for the September quarter. Stronger refining and petrochemical margins played a major role in driving the earnings growth.
The results highlighted the increasing contribution of Reliance’s oil-to-chemicals and telecom businesses. Its refining operations benefited from record crude processing and higher-value fuel exports, while Jio Platforms reported nearly 14% growth in quarterly profit. Jio also continued to attract subscribers and improve its profitability following its recent stock market debut.
However, Reliance’s retail business continues to face profitability challenges, while its shares had fallen more than 17% during 2026 before Monday’s rally. Analysts believe sustained growth will depend on a recovery in retail performance and stronger returns from its new energy investments. The latest results have nevertheless improved investor confidence in the company’s future earnings prospects.
