Trent’s Quarterly Profit Rises 23% on Strong Fashion Sales
India’s Tata Group-owned retailer Trent reported a 23% increase in consolidated net profit for the second quarter ended September 30, 2026. Profit rose to ₹464 crore from ₹377 crore in the same period last year, supported by strong sales across its fashion and lifestyle businesses and continued store expansion. Revenue from operations increased 22% year-on-year to ₹5,873 crore, reflecting sustained demand for affordable fashion.
Trent operates popular retail brands Zudio and Westside, both of which contributed to its growth. During the quarter, the company added 17 Zudio stores and 10 Westside outlets, taking its total store count across brands to 1,342, compared with 1,101 a year earlier. Its standalone revenue had also increased 23% to ₹5,788 crore, indicating continued business expansion.
However, the apparel industry continues to face challenges from inflation and subdued discretionary spending, while festive purchases have shifted towards the December quarter. Analysts noted that new store openings contributed significantly to revenue growth, with existing-store sales remaining a key factor to watch. Higher sourcing costs could also pressure profitability, although improved sourcing efficiency, inventory management and product mix may help support margins.
