Hyundai Motor India to Invest $1.16 Billion in Pune Plant Expansion
Hyundai Motor India plans to invest ₹11,000 crore ($1.16 billion) to expand its Pune manufacturing plant in Maharashtra, aiming to increase its annual production capacity by nearly 90% by 2030. The investment comes a day after its parent company, Hyundai Motor Group, announced plans to invest $15.5 billion in India through 2032.
The Pune plant’s annual production capacity is expected to rise from 170,000 to 320,000 vehicles. Hyundai also plans to introduce flexible manufacturing systems capable of producing multiple models, including internal combustion engine vehicles and hybrids, to meet changing market demand.
The facility will also adopt AI-powered technologies for quality inspections and defect detection. Alongside its Chennai operations, the expanded Pune plant is expected to help Hyundai achieve an annual production capacity of 1.14 million vehicles in India by 2030, strengthening its presence in one of the world’s largest automotive markets.
