Indian Oil to Invest $256 Million in Kochi–Thoothukudi Gas Pipeline
Indian Oil Corporation will invest ₹24.49 billion ($255.6 million) to build and operate a natural gas pipeline connecting Kochi in Kerala with Thoothukudi in Tamil Nadu, the company said on Monday.
The 424.65-km pipeline will pass through Kochi, Kanyakumari and Thoothukudi. It will have a total capacity of 6.84 million standard cubic metres per day (MMSCMD), including 1.71 MMSCMD of common carrier capacity.
The project comes as India expands its natural gas infrastructure and works to increase the share of gas in its energy mix. The investment is part of efforts to improve gas connectivity and support the use of cleaner fuel alternatives.
