Chosen Raises $5 Million in Series A to Expand Science-Led Skincare Innovation
Chosen, a science-driven skincare startup, has raised $5 million in a Series A funding round led by Fireside Ventures, with participation from Bold, the corporate venture capital arm of L’Oréal, and Alkemi Growth Capital. The round also attracted angel investor Avnish Anand, co-founder and former CEO of CaratLane, alongside a group of practising dermatologists including Chandan Asokan, KC Nischal, Punit Saraogi, Nishita Ranka and Mikki Singh, underscoring the company’s strong clinical backing.
The newly secured funds will be directed toward strengthening research and development, expanding the product portfolio, scaling its Centre of Excellence, and hiring talent. Chosen focuses on developing science-led skincare solutions tailored for melanin-rich Indian skin, addressing concerns such as pigmentation, texture, contour, and hair ageing, with offerings spanning both topical applications and nutraceuticals.
Founder and CEO Renita Rajan said the funding validates the company’s dermatologist-led, science-first approach and will support deeper R&D and stronger clinical collaborations. Investors echoed confidence in Chosen’s model, highlighting its blend of clinical rigor and trust-based market strategy. Fireside Ventures’ Varun Varma, L’Oréal’s Samantha Etienne, and Alkemi Growth Capital’s Alka Goel all emphasized the brand’s unique positioning and long-term growth potential, while Avnish Anand noted its commitment to building a differentiated, product-led business.
