Exide Industries Profit Jumps 22% on Strong Auto Demand
Exide Industries Ltd reported a 22.7% rise in its fourth-quarter profit, driven by strong demand from the automotive sector. The company posted a profit of ₹3.12 billion for the quarter ended March 31, up from ₹2.55 billion a year earlier, while revenue grew 9.4% to ₹45.51 billion.
Growth was largely supported by robust performance across two-wheelers, three-wheelers, and passenger vehicles, all of which saw double-digit increases. Tax cuts introduced last year also continued to boost vehicle demand, helping Exide’s auto segment expand by more than 25% year-on-year. The company expects this positive momentum to carry into the next quarter, particularly in auto replacement and inverter segments.
However, challenges remain on the export front, with overseas business declining due to geopolitical disruptions and shipping constraints. The company also flagged concerns over rising costs linked to the weakening rupee, which could impact margins going forward despite strong domestic demand.
