Germany Nears $8 Billion Submarine Deal With India, Says Defence Minister
Germany expects to sign a final agreement with India “soon” on a major submarine cooperation deal worth about $8 billion, German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius said on Wednesday in Kiel. He expressed strong confidence that the agreement would be concluded shortly.
Pistorius indicated that the signing could take place within the next three months, signaling steady progress in negotiations between the two countries on the long-anticipated project.
The deal is being led by German warship builder TKMS in partnership with India’s Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders. The agreement has been under discussion for months as part of broader defence-industrial cooperation between India and Germany.
