Revolut Plans Major India Expansion, Targets 40% Global Workforce by 2026

European fintech company Revolut plans to base about 40% of its global workforce in India by the end of 2026, significantly expanding its global capability centre (GCC) in the country. The firm aims to add around 1,600 new roles across product development, customer support, payment processing, and fraud investigation functions, increasing its India headcount to approximately 5,500 employees. Revolut currently employs about 12,000 people worldwide.

The company had earlier committed £500 million to its India operations and GCC over a five-year period, reflecting its long-term strategy to leverage India’s growing technology and financial services talent pool. Executives highlighted that India’s workforce plays a key role in supporting global operations, with nearly one-third of Revolut’s processes already managed from the country, including transaction monitoring and AI-driven risk alerts.

While the GCC expansion is separate from Revolut’s consumer business in India, the company is preparing to launch its local product soon after receiving authorization to issue prepaid payment instruments. Founded in 2015 and valued at $75 billion, Revolut views India as a strategic hub for innovation, with technologies developed locally—such as enhanced video KYC systems—being adapted for use across international markets.
