Adani Group to Invest ₹57,333 Cr in Navi Mumbai International Airport by FY30
The Adani Group plans to invest ₹57,333 crore in Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) by FY30, funding the first three phases of the greenfield project. These phases will include the construction of two passenger terminals, dual runways, cargo and general aviation terminals, metro connectivity, and a multi-modal transport hub. Led by Navi Mumbai International Airport Ltd (NMIAL), a joint venture between Adani Group’s Mumbai International Airport Ltd and CIDCO, the airport is set to operate alongside the existing Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA), creating a dual-airport system for Mumbai.
According to Business Standard, the first two phases—requiring ₹22,531 crore—will handle up to 20 million passengers annually, with key infrastructure including a 3,700-metre southern runway, Terminal 1, and integrated cargo facilities. The third phase, starting FY26, will expand capacity to 50 million with the addition of Terminal 2, a second runway, and advanced connectivity through metro lines and road networks. Terminal 2 will feature four piers, underground parking for 3,500 vehicles, and an air traffic control tower.
The Airports Economic Regulatory Authority (AERA) has approved interim user development fees of ₹620 for domestic and ₹1,225 for international departures from NMIA, which is expected to open commercially in August 2025. The final phases, 4 and 5, will each add 20 million passengers in capacity, ultimately scaling the airport to handle 90 million annually, with timelines dependent on actual traffic growth.
