3 Indian-Americans Walking On Frozen Lake Fall Through Ice, Drown

Three Indian-Americans, one of whom was a woman, perished in a terrible accident in the US state of Arizona after they slipped through the ice while walking on a frozen lake.

“The missing men are located deceased and identified as Narayana Muddana, 49 and Gokul Mediseti, 47. The female victim has been identified as Haritha Muddana (age unknown). The three victims resided in Chandler, Arizona and are originally from India,” Coconino County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) said in a statement on Tuesday.

The incident happened at Woods Canyon Lake in Coconino County, Arizona, on December 26 at 3:35 PM. Phoenix’s suburb is Chandler. Haritha was pulled from the water shortly after, according to authorities, who then tried to save her life but were unsuccessful. She died on the spot.

Then, teams started looking for Mediseti and Narayana, who had also fallen into the lake. The sheriff’s office reported that the two males were discovered deceased on Tuesday afternoon. The three bodies have all been found.

According to a statement released by officials with CCSO, “deputies stationed at a substation in the area were called to the lake after two men and a woman were walking on the frozen lake and fell through the ice.” Woods Canyon Lake is located east of Payson in the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests. It is an area popular among hikers, anglers and other outdoor enthusiasts.

When air pressure falls, a bomb cyclone occurs, bringing snow, severe winds, and subfreezing temperatures. Nearly 250 million people are impacted, and the storm, which spans more than 3,200 kilometres from Quebec to Texas, has been related to at least 19 fatalities.
