2 Sidhu Moose Wala Murder Suspects Killed In 4-Hour Encounter With Punjab Police

In a battle with the police today in Amritsar, two gangsters who were thought to be among those responsible for the shooting death of musician Sidhu Moose Wala were murdered. Also hurt were three police officers. In a shootout that lasted more than four hours, officials said that after the first suspect, Jagroop Singh Roopa, was slain, Manpreet Singh, alias Mannu Kussa, continued to fire for approximately an hour before he was also dead.
A cameraman for a news outlet was shot in the right leg in the ensuing firefight.By the time the encounter in Bhakna village, 20 kilometres from Amritsar, came to an end, state police head Gaurav Yadav had also arrived. The Anti-Gangster Task Force commander for the Punjab Police, ADGP Pramod Ban, told reporters at the scene that “an AK-47 rifle, a pistol, and a big quantity of rounds have been found.”

The two individuals were being followed by the task force when the confrontation began around midday. They were one of three shooters who remained at large. While Deepak Mundi has not yet been located, these two have been located. The remaining shooters—there were at least eight—have all been taken into custody.

Only a few minutes had passed after the arrival of the ambulances when police pronounced Jagroop Roopa dead. People had been instructed to stay indoors in the area, which was fenced off and about 10 kilometres from Pakistan’s border.

Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, also known as Sidhu Moose Wala, was shot and killed on May 29 in the vicinity of his village of Moosa in Punjab’s Mansa district. He was a Congress activist and a rapper and singer-songwriter.

Given that the murder occurred just one day after Sidhu Moose Wala’s security was reduced to two cops as part of a bigger campaign against “VIP culture,” Punjab’s Bhagwant Mann-led AAP government has also come under fire. However, the musician wasn’t using his armoured car or the two police officers when he was attacked.
