Night curfew in areas where there is widespread; Center also urged the states to be vigilant

The Central Government has again issued alert to the States and Union Territories ahead of the election and festive seasons. The Ministry of Health has recommended the imposition of restrictions, including night curfews, in areas where the spread of the disease (Omicron) is high. A review meeting chaired by the Prime Minister Modi was held in New Delhi to assess the spread of Omicron in the states.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that support for the states under Covid control will continue. States must be vigilant. He also suggested strengthening the health system from the grassroots. The Centre’s proposal is to go back to the old control methods, including night curfew, against the backdrop of the growing omicron in the country. Celebrations need to be controlled. If the positivity rate increases, the area should be declared a contingency zone immediately. Households in the Containment Zones should undergo a diagnostic test. The money in the central package can be spent on necessary systems in case of emergencies. The Health Secretaries should evaluate the progress of the work on a daily basis and inform the Center.

The pace of immunization should be increased in districts with low vaccination rates in the five states where elections are to be held soon. In states where the rates are lower than the national average, the rates should be increased by vaccinating households. At the same time, the Ministry of Health today estimates that 236 people have already been affected in the country. 104 people were cured. The condition of anyone undergoing treatment is not serious. Maharashtra leads in the spread of the disease. According to the Ministry of Health, Kerala is the sixth in the top ten states in terms of outbreak. Sixty per cent of the eligible population has already been vaccinated with two doses.
