Political parties brawl to hijack Ambedkar’s legacy

ambedkar900x520The Dalit vote banks are one of the crucial factors in upcoming assembly elections particularly in states like West Bengal, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu.

As these states are heading towards the elections, the political parties have deliberately started efforts to woo the Dalit population.

On the wake of this situation, this year’s Ambedkar jayanthi celebrations gain much-popularity than last year’s celebration.

From Kanhaiya Kumar, the latest communist hero, to our honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi rushed to various venues to showcase their respect towards the father of constitution.

Interestingly, while speaking at the functions, majority of the political leaders largely tried to shoot unnecessary arguments against their opponents rather than conveying their respect towards the Dalit icon.

In one such occasion, our Prime Minster Narendra Modi strongly criticised the congress party for not building an Ambedkar’s memorial house in Delhi.

And, he assures that his government is working to fulfil Ambedkar’s vision. He consciously pointed out his rural empowerment policies to strengthen his argument.

At the same time, in a different venue, pro-Dalit leader Mayawathi was strongly criticizing both national parties, BJP and Congress, for trying to play the vote bank politics in the states.

In addition, she claims that the congress party had not done any favour to the Dalit population when it was ruling the nation.
