Unique Times-England wicketkeeper retires

Matt Prior the 33-year old England wicketkeeper has announced his retirement from cricket. Between 2009 and 2013 he helped England to score three Ashes series victories and had won 79 test caps. However since 2014 the wicketkeeper could not play any cricket due to a recurring Achilles tendon injury. During a recent interview he had expressed his gratitude towards playing for Sussex and England and feels privileged of having played such a great successful game for English cricket. Matt Prior became the first England wicketkeeper to have scored a century on his starting career itself by hitting 126 at Lord’s against West Indies which took place in 2007. He also scored a Test batting average of 40.18 which is considered to be the highest of any England wicketkeeper. It was during November 2004 that Matt Prior had been selected to tour Zimbabwe along with England’s one-day squad. Most of the cricketers have expressed their tributes as a farewell to Matt Prior.
