4 Karnataka Male Students Suspended For Dancing In Burqas At College Event

Four students who danced while donning burqas at a performance were suspended from an engineering institution in Karnataka. The four pupils can be seen dancing on stage to a well-known Bollywood dance tune while the audience applauds and encourages them in a video of the event. The college’s student association planned the event for Wednesday.

The Principal of St. Joseph Engineering Campus in Mangaluru suspended the students and launched an investigation after the footage from the college went popular on social media.In a statement, the college claimed that Muslim students “barged on stage” during the informal portion of the students’ association inaugural to perform the dance.

“It was not part of the approved program and the students involved have been suspended pending enquiry. The college does not support or condone any activities that could harm the harmony between communities and everyone,” it said.
