17 Km Stretch Of Delhi-Meerut Rapid Rail Likely To Be Operational By March

According to officials, the country’s first Delhi-Meerut RRTS train corridor’s 17-km Duhai-Sahibabad priority segment could begin operating by the end of March this year. This facility would transform how commuters in the National Capital Region move.

According to an official, the 82-km Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) will be fully operational by 2025 and will have cost around 32,274 crore.

The ambitious Delhi-Meerut RRTS corridor project cost a total of 11,440 crore up until November 30, the government reported to Parliament in December of last year.

The ambitious project is being carried out by the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), and RRTS trains will have a design speed of 180 km/h and an operational speed of 160 km/h.

On Friday, when asked about the fare, an NCRTC representative indicated it has not yet been determined.

RRTS trains are now being tested on the priority stretch in Ghaziabad between the Duhai depot and Sahibabad. Four stations make up the priority stretch: Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Guldhar, and Duhai.

The modern RRTS trains are equipped with amenities such as 2×2 transverse cushioned seating that has been ergonomically designed, wide standing space, luggage racks, CCTV cameras, laptop/mobile charging stations, dynamic route maps, auto control ambient lighting systems, WiFi capabilities, and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems.

The majority of the trains that will run along the RRTS line will have six coaches, five of which will be in the ordinary class and one in the premium class. Also, a carriage will be set aside for female travellers.

Platform Screen Doors (PSDs) are being installed at RRTS stations in the meantime. Three to four floors make up the majority of RRTS stations. The trains will include emergency communications capabilities as well as dynamic route maps.

The entry and exit portals will be open to pedestrians as well as RRTS users, allowing them to cross busy streets without going inside the stations’ ticketed area.

This feature will aid with crowd control at the stations and the safe passage of pedestrians.
