Telangana unveils school for Rohingya refugees on World Refugee day

Extending helping hand to the ailing Rohingya refugees, the Telangana government on last day unveiled a new educational institution exclusively for the refugee children belonging to the Rohingya community. Incidentally, while the youngest Indian state was demonstrating a perfect example of mercy and care, the world was celebrating the Refugee day. Rohingya Muslim, a minority community of Myanmar, has experienced extreme hardship and persecution in their homeland. Presently, they are largely migrating to neighbouring countries like Bangladesh in search of a peaceful life and a stable livelihood. As per report, nearly three-thousand people is estimated to have reached Telangana, and most of them are working in the unsafe job atmosphere like scrap picking, clearing garbage, and many more. Report added that around eight hundred of the refugees who seek shelter in the state are of school-going age. The new school situated in Hyderabad will admit at least hundred students. The National media reported as a refugee representative as saying; they are happy at least a hundred of their children would get regular meal and education. It is said that through the Sarva Siksha Abhiyan scheme the state will give regular meals and education to the children. Meanwhile, United Nations High Commission for Refugees and Save the Children foundation may develop curriculum and other support. While inaugurating the school, the Telangana Transport Minister, Mahender Reddy, reveals that the state is planning to start two more educational institutions to help the ailing refugee children in near future.
