Opinion: Why the US wants to bring Iran under its control
Most of us know that the United States is not in a good relation with Iran. The White House has recently walked out of the Iran nuclear agreement and imposed severe economic sanction over Tehran. A section of media houses force us to believe that it is Iran’s aggressive attitude that makes that country the prime enemy of the, so called, universal police of the US. Do you think that the argument holds water anymore? Definitely, that argument is indented to mislead the world from the actual issue. Then, what is the actual issue between the US and Iran?
What bothers the US is not Iran’s aggressive attitude; not its attitude towards Saudi Arabia; not its disliking towards Israel; not its proxy wars in the countries like Libya, but its influence in the Strait of Hormuz.
By destabilising the US, what the White House tries is to bring the strategically important region under the control of the US forces.
Why is that region important? That is the questioned needed to be answered first before going deep into the subject.
The Strait of Hormuz is a strait located between the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman. It is the only sea passage from the Persian Gulf to the open ocean. A third of the world’s liquefied natural gas passes through the strait. Iran is the one which has the highest influence in the region. In the northern costal lines of the cost lies Iran and in the south lies the United Arab Empire and Musandam, an exclave of Oman.
If someone attacks Iran, the first thing the Iran will do is to block the strait. It means that any attack on Iran affects the global natural gas market heavily.
This reality explains why the US has aborted its plan to attack Iran recently. It also explains why the US indirectly targets Iran every now and then.
Iran has recently intercepted some European vessels in the region. That action is clearly an attempt to remind the west about its capabilities.
The article is not an effort to project the world that Iran is a perfect nation. There are several reports available to connect Iran to the disturbances in many regions in West Asia. It is only an attempt to show the world that there are some truth exists which the world media houses do not want the world to know. And, it is an attempt to advise the west to take a sensible policy towards the West Asia, particularly towards Iran.
