Zomato Founder Deepinder Goyal Steps Aside as Blinkit’s Albinder Dhindsa Takes Charge
Indian food delivery and quick commerce major Eternal, formerly Zomato, announced a top leadership reshuffle on Wednesday, with founder Deepinder Goyal stepping down as chief executive officer and managing director effective February 1. Albinder Dhindsa, the head of quick commerce arm Blinkit, will take over as CEO, while Goyal will continue with the company as vice chairman.
Goyal, who founded Zomato in 2008 and led it through its 2021 stock market listing, said in a letter to shareholders that Dhindsa will handle day-to-day execution, operational priorities and key business decisions. Goyal will focus on long-term strategy, culture, leadership development, and governance, areas he said he has increasingly concentrated on in recent years.
The leadership change underscores Eternal’s growing emphasis on quick commerce, with Blinkit emerging as the group’s largest revenue contributor amid surging demand for instant deliveries. The company recently reported a 73% jump in quarterly profit, while Blinkit posted positive adjusted core earnings, highlighting its turnaround and central role in Eternal’s growth strategy in an intensely competitive market.
