Woman Who Accused Minister Of Harassment Alleges ‘Pressure To Be Silent’
On Tuesday, the female coach who had accused Sandeep Singh, the sports minister for Haryana, of sexual harassment asserted that the chief minister was attempting to sway the investigation.
Speaking to the media after she appeared before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Chandigarh Police, the woman said, “The SIT has been formed, everything was told in detail. Haryana Chief Minister is trying to influence the investigation. The incident happened in Chandigarh…I am being pressurised to be silent.”
She alleged that she has been promised one crore to leave the country and that she has been receiving calls requesting her to do so. The coach went on to say that she is under pressure from the Haryana Police.
“I have told everything in detail to the Chandigarh Police SIT. I also told the pending issues to the SIT. I heard the Chief Minister’s statement this morning, in which the Chief Minister himself is taking the side of Sandeep Singh. Chandigarh Police did not put any pressure on me. Haryana Police is trying to put pressure on me,” she said.
Dipanshu Bansal, the coach’s attorney, said that neither the former minister nor he had been detained by the Chandigarh Police.
Anil Vij, the Haryana Home minister, and representatives from Dhankhar Khap met with the father of the female coach who accused Sandeep Singh, the sports minister, of sexual harassment on Tuesday in Ambala.
In a press conference held at the opposition Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) office last month, the woman, a coach for young athletes, claimed that the minister had harassed her from February to November of last year via repeated messages on social media, had touched her inappropriately, and had threatened her in messages.
During the press conference, the woman urged the Manohar Lal Khattar administration in Haryana to dismiss Sandeep Singh right now and form a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to look into the situation.
Notably, the woman said to ANI on Sunday that she became impatient and decided to tell the world about the incident.Haryana Sports Minister Sandeep Singh on Sunday announced that he had given Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar control of the Sports department till the investigation’s findings was released, hours after sexual harassment allegations were made against him.
