Tata Tightens Security After Major Data Leak Investigation
Tata Electronics, a key Apple supplier in India, has tightened internal security controls after a major cybersecurity incident exposed thousands of sensitive client files on the dark web. The company has restricted access to critical internal systems, limiting remote access to sensitive tools only to selected employees while continuing normal operations.
The breach, linked to a ransomware group, allegedly involved over 200,000 files including proprietary documents from Apple, Tesla, TSMC, and Qualcomm. Although the authenticity of all leaked data has not been confirmed, the scale of the exposure has prompted Tata to launch a forensic investigation and hire global cybersecurity experts to assess the damage.
Apple is reportedly working closely with Tata on long-term security improvements as concerns grow over supply chain vulnerabilities. The incident adds pressure on India’s rapidly expanding electronics manufacturing ecosystem, which is becoming increasingly important to global tech supply chains.
