Roads Blocked, Power And Water Supply Disrupted Amid Heavy Snowfall In Himachal

According to the state disaster management agency, following recent snowfall in Himachal Pradesh, numerous highways have been closed and a number of power and water supply connections have been affected.

According to the Himachal Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority, “the fresh snowfall has caused 889 electricity supply schemes and 29 water supply schemes to be affected throughout the state, 262 highways have been stopped, including the National Highway (NH-003).”

Following the presence of a Western Disturbance, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) earlier issued a heavy snowfall warning for Tuesday and Wednesday in Himachal Pradesh.

Additionally, the state’s meteorological department forecast poor weather for the state’s higher elevations.

Sandeep Kumar Sharma, a senior scientist at IMD, predicted that the area would experience another round of precipitation and snowfall.

“This western disturbance will be active in the state on the 25th, 26th and 27th of January. There is the possibility of snowfall and the temperatures will drop by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius,” he said.
