RMZ Plans $35 Billion Push to Scale Data Center Capacity to 3 GW
India’s real estate and investment firm RMZ has announced an ambitious plan to expand its data center capacity to 2–3 gigawatts over the next five years as part of a $35 billion investment strategy. The Bengaluru-based company currently operates 250 megawatts and is in advanced talks for three new projects that could push its capacity beyond 1 gigawatt, according to a senior executive. RMZ is also preparing to acquire land by year-end to support future expansion of up to 2 gigawatts.
The company’s expansion aligns with rising demand for AI and cloud infrastructure in India, where global tech firms and conglomerates are investing heavily in digital ecosystems. RMZ expects strong interest from hyperscalers and plans to scale operations as client agreements are finalized. The firm sees data centers as a gateway into related sectors such as GPU infrastructure, power systems, and software development.
RMZ initially built its 250-megawatt capacity through a joint venture with Colt Data Centre Services and continues to explore further growth opportunities with its partner. The company’s long-term vision includes strengthening the foundational infrastructure that powers AI and cloud computing in India’s rapidly expanding digital economy.
