Renault India to Increase Car Prices by Up to 2% from January 2026

Renault India, the wholly owned subsidiary of the French automaker, has announced a marginal price hike of up to 2% on its vehicles, effective January 2026. The company cited rising input costs and prevailing macroeconomic conditions as the reasons behind the increase, which will vary across different models and variants. This move follows a similar announcement by JSW MG Motor India, which also plans to raise prices by up to 2% from January.

Both Renault and JSW MG Motor currently hold a 1% market share each in India’s passenger vehicle segment, which sees around 4 million units sold annually. While smaller players are implementing price adjustments, India’s largest carmakers—including Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, and Mahindra & Mahindra—have not yet announced any hikes. Tata Motors, however, indicated a likely price increase in January due to rising commodity costs, as per their recent earnings call.

Despite the anticipated price adjustments, India’s passenger vehicle market is expected to see double-digit growth in the second half of FY26. Tata Motors’ managing director Shailesh Chandra noted that although the first half experienced a 1.6% decline in sales, volumes are projected to grow by around 5% overall for the financial year.
