Reliance Enters India’s Ice Cream Market With ₹10 Products
Reliance Consumer Products, the consumer goods arm of billionaire Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Industries, has entered India’s competitive ice cream market with its new brand, Bombay Creamery. Starting at just ₹10, the range includes cones, cups, tubs, bars and sticks. The products are currently available in western India, with a nationwide rollout planned soon.
The launch puts Reliance in competition with established brands including Amul, Vadilal, Mother Dairy, Kwality Wall’s, Arun, Magnum and Baskin-Robbins. Analysts say Reliance could use its extensive retail network, distribution capabilities and consumer data to attract price-sensitive customers. A ₹10 entry price could also encourage first-time buyers to try the brand, particularly in a market with strong regional competition.
Reliance’s latest move is part of its broader push into India’s packaged consumer goods sector. The company has previously revived the Campa soft drink brand, intensifying competition in the cola market. Analysts believe Reliance’s growing retail and distribution ecosystem, along with its ability to provide branded freezers to retailers, could help Bombay Creamery expand rapidly and gain a larger share of consumers’ spending.
