The first phase of the assembly election has begun in the North Indian state of Chhattisgarh, despite the political campaign launched by the far-leftists aimed at the failure of the poll process in at least eighteen constituencies.

Chhattisgarh is one of the states which are badly affected by the far-leftist extremism. In the recent past, several times the far-leftist extremists have proved their strength in this state. So far, no effort aimed at eliminating this violent force from the region completely has find success.

Most of those constituencies which have been warned to stay out of the election are situated in and around the stronghold of Maoists.

The authorities have ensured tight security in the region. As per the latest updates, no violence has been reported from anywhere so far.

By now, nearly fourteen per cent of the voters have casted their votes. Notably, in the early hours of the election, the polling has failed to stay up to the expectation. But, later, it has picked up a satisfactory phase unexpectedly. Anyway, if the poll progress in this phase, it may reach an impressive score by the time the poll ends.

Not before, the state has witnessed such a tight competition. This election is expected to influence the outcome of the upcoming general election.
