Oracle Layoffs 2026: Severance Details for India Employees
Oracle Corporation has laid off thousands of employees globally, with nearly 12,000 workers impacted in India as part of a broader organisational restructuring. The layoffs, which reportedly affected around 30,000 employees worldwide, were communicated via early morning emails on March 31, informing staff that their roles had been eliminated effective immediately.
In India, severance packages are said to be based on tenure, base salary, and additional ex gratia payments. Reports suggest employees may receive 15 days of base salary per year of service, along with leave encashment. The ex gratia component reportedly includes another 15 days’ salary per year plus a fixed two months’ salary, along with one month of paid “gardening leave.”
Additional benefits include a ₹20,000 insurance payout, bringing the total estimated severance to roughly three and a half months’ salary, excluding tenure-linked variations. In comparison, US employees are said to receive four weeks of salary for the first year of service and one additional week for each subsequent year, capped at 26 weeks.
