Giving a clear message to all ministers working under the Odisha government that the ruling Biju Janata Dal never tolerate any kind of irresponsible statements which have the potential to damage the hard-earned reputation and trust of the party among different caste groups, the Chief Minister, Naveen Patnaik, has dismissed the State Agriculture Minister, Dr. Damodar Rout, for the latter’s remark against the Brahmin community, which is the prime supporter of the ruling party.

It has been reported that the derogatory statement which led to the minister’s dismissal was made during a district level festival organised in the Malkangiri district, in which the tribal population is the most powerful community.

It has been learned that the statement was made to appease the tribal communities which gathered in the place to attend the function.

As per the report, in the statement, the minister tried to irrationally compare the tribal community with the Brahmin community by saying that the former will not go for begging even if they met with such a drastic situation, but the latter will.

Earlier also, the minister several times made similar castiest statements and remarks, triggering serious protests.

Anyway, the opposition party members as well as the ruling party members have unanimously welcomed the courageous decision taken by the Chief Minister.
