NXIVM top leader pleads guilty in ‘sex cult’ case

Seagram heiress Clare Bronfman, the top leader of the infamous multi-level marketing company which describes itself as a self-help group designed to empower people, NXIVM, has pleaded guilty in the ‘sex cult’ case, over which at least eight leaders of the tainted organisation have been booked so far.

The NXIVM stands accused of maintaining a slave-master framework, of creating fake documents, of bringing illegal immigrants, and of many other things.

Ms Bronfman has admitted that she has committed some of the crimes charged against her. She has said that her heart is filled with remorse and she wants to do good to the people in future.

The leader of the cult is Keith Raniere. He faces several serious charges including sexual abuse and conspiracy. He has denied all charges registered against him.

The organisation was active until last year. It closed down its activities a month before the Seagram heiress was booked.

As per an International media report, the cult has pushed many women into the humiliating practice of sexual slavery.
