Nitish Kumar Promises 10 Million Jobs, Highlights Bihar’s Development Ahead of 2025 Polls
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, addressing a public meeting in Danapur on Friday, pledged to create 10 million job opportunities for the state’s youth over the next five years. Emphasising the progress made under the BJP-led NDA government, Kumar stated that one million people have already been provided government jobs and four million have received employment opportunities. He urged voters to recall the condition of Patna before his government’s tenure, asserting that major improvements in infrastructure and governance began under his leadership.
The Chief Minister highlighted the government’s focus on peace, education, and healthcare, noting that 2,58,000 teachers were appointed through the Bihar Public Service Commission and that free medicine and treatment services were initiated at primary health centres in 2006. “Earlier, only 39 patients were treated daily; now, an average of 11,600 patients visit these centres every month,” he said, underlining the strides made in the state’s medical system.
Kumar also drew attention to women’s empowerment and infrastructure growth, announcing that over 12.1 million women have received ₹10,000 each to start businesses, with successful entrepreneurs eligible for an additional ₹2 lakh. He added that the state has doubled the number of medical colleges from six to twelve while improving connectivity through bridges, bypasses, and elevated roads. The upcoming Bihar elections, scheduled for November 6 and 11, will see a contest between the NDA and the Mahagathbandhan, with results to be declared on November 14.
