Modi Clears Welfare Push from Seva Teerth
Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked the beginning of operations at the newly shifted Prime Minister’s Office at Seva Teerth complex by approving four major welfare-focused decisions targeting farmers, women, youth and vulnerable citizens. The first set of clearances reflects a continued emphasis on social security, rural development and grassroots empowerment under the government’s governance priorities.
Among the key announcements is the launch of the PM RAHAT (Road Accident Victims Hospitalisation and Assured Treatment) scheme, which will provide cashless emergency treatment of up to ₹1.5 lakh for road accident victims. The government also expanded the Lakhpati Didi initiative, doubling its target to 6 crore women by March 2029 after surpassing the 3 crore milestone, aiming to promote financial independence through self-help groups and rural entrepreneurship.
Additionally, the allocation under the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund has been increased to ₹2 lakh crore to strengthen rural storage, logistics and supply chains, offering better support to farmers. The Cabinet also cleared Startup India Fund of Funds 2.0 with a ₹10,000 crore corpus to back early-stage startups and boost employment in emerging sectors. The new administrative hub also houses the National Security Council Secretariat and the Cabinet Secretariat, centralising key governance functions.
