McDonald’s Jaipur Outlet Gets Food Safety Warning
Indian food safety authorities have issued a regulatory warning to a McDonald’s outlet in Jaipur after an inspection revealed the use of cooking oil deemed unfit for consumption and the presence of rotten tomatoes in storage. Officials said around 40 litres of oil had been repeatedly reused, violating food safety norms, and samples were seized for further laboratory testing.
The outlet has been given 14 days to correct the violations or face stricter action, according to food safety officer Sushil Chotwani. Authorities also indicated that additional McDonald’s outlets in the city may be inspected as part of follow-up checks.
Connaught Plaza Restaurants, the franchisee operating McDonald’s outlets in North and East India, said it is cooperating with regulators and adheres to the brand’s global quality standards. While food adulteration cases are frequently reported in India, incidents involving major international chains remain relatively uncommon.
