Maharashtra minister arrested by ED; NCP leader Nawab Malik arrested

Maharashtra government’s Minister for Minority Welfare and NCP leader, Nawab Malik has been arrested by enforcement directorate. The arrest was made in a money laundering case related to Dawood Ibrahim. The minister was taken to JJ Hospital in Mumbai for a medical examination.

The arrest of Nawab Malik was recorded after he was summoned for questioning. Nawab Malik is the second Maharashtra minister to be arrested by the ED. Former Home Minister Anil Deshmukh was also arrested earlier. The arrest was reportedly made after an eight-hour interrogation. Enforcement took the minister away from home at 7 am.

An inquiry has been launched into Nawab Malik’s land dealings with relatives of Dawood Ibrahim. The Shiv Sena has come out against the action of the Enforcement Directorate. The manner in which Nawab Malik, a senior minister and leader, was taken away from the Enforcement House is a challenge to the Maharashtra government. A central agency has come to the state and taken away a minister. Sanjay Raut’s challenge is not to forget that the BJP will also face probe after 2024.
