Kerala demands scrapping of CAA
The South Indian state of Kerala has formally demanded the scrapping of the Citizenship Amendment Act, at the time the central government is under serious pressure to withdraw the, so called, controversial act.
Today, the Kerala State Assembly has passed a resolution seeking the scrapping of the Citizenship Amendment Act, which was introduced by the central government recently.
The ruling LDF and the main opposition UDF have supported the resolution seeking the scrapping of the act. Meanwhile, the lone BJP member of the Kerala Legislative Assembly has opposed the resolution strongly.
The passage of the resolution is not a surprise. Since the introduction of the act, the LDF and UDF are against the act. They have organised several agitations across the state to mobilise the people of the state against the act.
Many leaders from the LDF and UDF factions have said they would not deviate from the path of agitation until the act is revoked.
