Iranian Foreign Minister meets Modi: Iran says anti-Nabi statement discussed around

Arriving in New Delhi, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Foreign Minister S Jayasankar. Iran has confirmed that anti-Nabi statements made by BJP leaders were made during talks with the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister. The Iranian foreign minister is the representative of a Muslim country who meets the prime minister after the anti-Nabi statement became controversial internationally.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of External Affairs directed the embassies to monitor and cool the protests in the Gulf countries against India. The Foreign Secretary asked the diplomats to inform the authorities that India is not against any religion.

In addition to Iran, Kuwait and Qatar, Malaysia and Iraq summoned Indian officials yesterday to protest. Turkey also issued a statement today. The campaign to boycott Indian products continues in some countries. It was in this context that Foreign Secretary Vinay Mohan Kwatra sent a message to the embassies to monitor the anti-India moves. Leaders need to be informed of what the fact is. The Foreign Secretary also directed that the civil society should be made aware of this.

The Center had made it clear that India would not apologize on the issue. The diplomats were instructed to defend themselves in the wake of Pakistan’s move to use the issue as a weapon against India in the international arena.

Meanwhile, Al Qaeda has threatened to attack India. Al Qaeda has threatened to launch an offensive in India, citing statements by BJP leaders. Threats of suicide bombings in UP, Gujarat, Delhi and Mumbai.
