IndiGo Reviews Antitrust Order After Flight Cancellations

IndiGo Airlines, India’s largest carrier by market share, is reviewing an order from the Competition Commission of India (CCI) following mass flight cancellations in December. The airline said it will take appropriate action after a detailed review of the regulator’s directive.

The CCI launched an investigation after IndiGo cancelled approximately 4,500 flights in the first weeks of December, leaving tens of thousands of passengers stranded. The regulator noted that the cancellations effectively withheld service from the market, creating artificial scarcity and limiting consumer access during peak travel demand.

IndiGo’s shares were relatively stable following the announcement, trading slightly lower by 1.5%. The airline’s response comes as scrutiny grows over competition and service reliability in India’s fast-growing aviation market.
