In Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj’s first bilateral meeting with US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, the senior minister of the central government has raised the issue of H-1B visa and Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals policy with the concerned.

The Donald Trump administration’s roll back on the DACA policy is likely to affect nearly eight thousand Indians who are currently living the United States.

It is apparent that no major assurances on these issues have been given during the discussion session. As usual, the subjects such as trade and terrorism have dominated in the meeting.

At this moment, it is not clear whether the Indian leader has demanded any exemptions for our diaspora living in the US in these sensitive policies.

There were allegations in the recent past that the Indian companies operating in the US were misusing the H-1B visa provisions.

It is said that the aforesaid assumption is still strong among a section of the society which believes that the foreigners are stealing their job opportunities.

Since the induction of the Republican leader as the President, the aforementioned section’s concerns have been reflecting in the policies of the White House.
