India, UAE Hold Talks on BrahMos Missile Deal Amid Growing Defence Ties
India and the UAE are in early-stage discussions over the potential sale of India’s flagship defence systems, including the supersonic BrahMos cruise missile and the Akashteer air defence network. Sources familiar with the matter said the talks are progressing quickly as the UAE looks to strengthen its military capabilities amid rising regional security concerns.
The UAE’s interest reflects its strategy of diversifying defence suppliers beyond traditional partners such as the United States. Defence experts say both BrahMos and Akashteer could enhance the country’s ability to counter emerging threats and improve air defence coordination, particularly in protecting key assets and strategic waterways.
The proposed deal comes as India’s defence exports continue to grow rapidly. Following increased international interest after India’s recent military operations, New Delhi has expanded defence cooperation with several countries. A potential agreement with the UAE would further deepen bilateral ties and highlight India’s emergence as a major defence exporter.
